Lionel Richie’s Cousin Davio Helping Monterey Homeless Youths
Dashing out of the Safeway store in Monterey, I had no time for the guy pointing out the Barack Obama posters he was selling. To make sure he understood I let him know I don’t buy political paraphernalia.
His words called after me, “The donations are for the homeless kids in Monterey!…(as I kept walking)…”That’s OK. I love ya anyway.”
Shoot.
Pretty sure I was making a mistake, I was mulling it over as I returned. It had to be a scam; why would an older man who did not appear wealthy be spending a Sunday afternoon outside of a grocery store asking people to buy Presidential paraphernalia?
I needn’t have worried, I was informed straight away. The next thing I knew, I was meeting Davio Ritchie, cousin to Lionel Richie and a talented artist in his own right. (They spell their names differently; not sure why.)
Meet Davio Ritchie:
I told Davio to check this out on a computer at the Monterey Library; I hope you do, Davio! Monterey loves ya anyway.
