Monterey Whale Watching

One must dive deep to accomplish great thingsWinter is the best time for whale-watching in the Monterey Bay. This winter of 2008-2009 is getting exciting; estimates are that it peaks from December through January, and so far visitors have not been disappointed.

There are over 30 types of whales, seals and sea lion, dolphins and porpoises. Not to mention our famous otters! You can also sea sea turtles, other fish and rays, plus several bird species. (Image by wildphotons via Flickr)

There are several excellent charters to take you out for either a short or extended tour; their knowlede of the Monterey Bay just adds to the enjoyment of the sea adventure.

This video shows some humpback whales playing around the tour boat; the kids on board were pretty excited! November 2008; an amazing display of sea life!

Can you imagine seeing these creatures so close? Come to Monterey Bay, and you can!
