montereyaquariumThe Wild About Otters exhibit was a great addition to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and wildly popular so we’re sorry to see it go. Here is a writeup from thecalifornian.com:

This weekend is the last one for the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Wild About Otters exhibit.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium will close its two-year “Wild About Otters” special exhibit on Sunday. In addition to spirited freshwater otters, the exhibit includes more than 30 freshwater animal species, from exotic frogs to tropical fishes. More than 4 million visitors have come through since it opened in late March 2007.

The Otter Days weekend includes special auditorium presentations, feeding and training sessions, otter dress-up, face painting and otter spotting.

“People love otters; they love seeing them play,” aquarium spokesman Ken Peterson said Thursday. “It’s been popular. People love it, and people are going to be disappointed [with its closure].”

There are some upcoming exibits which include flamingoes, penguins from Brazil (I love penguins), and sea turtles. And there are still five sea otters on exhibit. And there’s a very cool seahorse exhibit called “The Secret Lives of Seahorses.” As always, there’s lots to see and do at the Monterey Bay Acquarium.
